The prints listed above, all from George Collins Levey’s 1879 donation to the NGV, belong to 3 different sets of engravings dating from the early years of Louis XIV’s reign:
- documentation of the festivities for the commencement of Louis XIV’s building campaign at Versailles in 1664;
- plans and views of the architectural campaign on the Tuileries Palace, 1668-73; and
- plans and views of the earlier stages of development of the Palace and gardens at Versailles, 1664-84
