According to the State Library, this drawing is “probably a retrospective reconstruction of an 1839 view.”

NGV 1905 identifies O’Brien as the artist, and also indicates that the sketch shows the view towards Hobson’s Bay from Spring Street (more likely Swanston Street, according to the SLV).
