Du Maurier A Connoisseur 1891 {1892} NGV [DR]
Du Maurier, born in France, later moved to London, becoming well known for the cartoons he contributed to Punch from 1865 onwards, including the two sketches listed below. A number of his other works on paper entered the NGV collection after 1905.
Late in life, he also wrote novels, notably Trilby (1894), the source of the name of the hat.
