This drawing, signed and dated Jan.1854, and inscribed “Bendigo” and “Zur freundlichen Erinninerung an” (“Friendly memories”), dates from Becker’s earlier years in Australia. He was at the Bendigo goldfields from 1852-54, and exhibited the sketches he made there in Melbourne in April 1854. The title indicated above is that given in NGV 1905.
This drawing was acquired at the same time as Becker Old Prince’s Bridge 1857 {1894} SLV [PA].
